I heard that Apple rejected it though, such a shame.

PS. I hope there will be a “left handed” mode to switch the sides of the joystick.

We do not have a LH mode, we absolutely will add the option ASAP - at the very least for full screen to start with.

This looks like a great emulator and it sucks that Apple won’t accept it. If Apple will not allow this, I would be happy to host this in my Cydia community source. The Cydia community has over 3 million users now, which is about 10% of the total iPhone community. If you were going to charge for it, you still can via the Cydia Store which works much like App store. If you are interested drop me an email.

As a last resort you could release the source code.
It would allow others, who have the iPhone sdk, to compile and run the app.

But is not possible make for Android?

Your app is similar to other emulated games, but the KEY difference is that they only run one game. What you will have to do is submit each C64 game, or app with an emulator that is hard coded to only run that app/game.

Otherwise it’ll be just used to bypass the apple store.

You should do what others did with their emulators. Not have it install any programs/plugins as forbidden, but include those.

Maybe you can even figure out a deal with Apple so that you can add games by in game buys.

All you have to do then let customers vote for app they like to see and license those. You even make more money that way as you get a piece for each game installed

I was so thrilled to know someone was developing something this cool for the iPhone.
Not sure if it will be of any help, but I also believe Apple should reconsider the rejection.

I think the only way you could get apple to approve this is to include games that you have rights to distribute, that would mean writing to each of the publishers for permission. In some cases this would be impossible.

Although as bigboss says, it would be much welcomed on Cydia

Although I can understand from a technical standpoint why it’s dangerous for an app to be able to execute code through an emulated OS, I hope that they realize what’s been done here and give the developer a fast-track to getting this AMAZING application up for sale ASAP!

The developer is just being greedy. First he uses someone elses hardwork
by porting the frodo version of this emulator
then rather than posting this app on cydia like most others in the emulation
community do, he greedily snaps up the c64 liscence and tries
to submit an app that would charge a buch for each game!
I think apple did the right thing and the previous posters are obviously
oblivious to the fact that you are using someone elses
source code for profit

I used to play the games Alice in Wonderland and Gramma’s House all the time. I wish I had a way to play them now. Anyone else remember the Commodore 64?Tower Defence

I remember seeing the VIC 20 and the C64 in computer stores when I was a boy. I remember they had awesome built-in sprites for fast game play.
Anyway, my first answer would have been eBay (just looking now there are over 450 C64s and C64 related software, accessories etc. But you said not eBay. Depending where you are located you may be able to pick one up at a car boot sale or garage sale.

The C64 was designed to work with a standard TV. It uses an RF cable which carries the audio and video. You just need to tune the TV into the correct signal - just like tuning it in for your regular tv channels.

Yeah it is a shame, and we do need to make sure that Apple can hear exactly waht it is the public want, I dont think they will be able to go much further when the G phone comes out, unless they take ideas from existing clients.

I’m not sure you’re going to find a whole machine which has actually been refurbished. I am sure you will find some which the current owner/seller claims is still working. Take a look at the oldsoftware link below - they have some refurbished C64 motherboards. That in combination with a C64 case (or a broken but complete C64) would get you close.
